Rosa Clark Medical Clinic

I volunteer at the Rosa Clark Medical Clinic once a week for 3 hours and during my time, I help with various areas of the clinic. I often call patients to notify them that their medicines are ready to pick up or I call them to notify them of appointments. I also help the nurses pull charts and file medical information into the correct file. When the pharmacy needs organizing I help and that involves unloading the medicine, marking them and putting them in the correct location. When patients come to pick up medicine, I interact with patients to get their names and to make sure they receive the correct medicine and that it is documented. From my time volunteering at Rosa Clark, I learn a lot about the health care system at a free medical clinic that provides primary care to its patients. Rosa Clark is a free medical clinic and with that comes a lot of documentation concerning prescriptions, insurance and copays. I have learned to work with the employees at Rosa Clark and help them think of ways to make Rosa Clark better. I have taken initiative while working at Rosa Clark, such as checking on patients after they have missed appointments and figuring out ways to help them get to their next appointments.
