Neurology Centers of the Carolinas

During my time at the Neurology Centers of the Carolinas, I was responsible for filing charts throughout the day. I filed paperwork into the charts after the doctors signed off on them. I also faxed medical documents such as prescriptions as well as medical information on patients. I also took initiative and fixed problems in the medical records room, such as overcrowding of charts and a back flow of medical information that wasn't filed. I worked under the supervision of Dr. Ringel, Dr. Potes and Dr. Georgiou. From this experience I learned about the different dynamics of the health care system in a private medical practice. This experience gave me a behind the scenes look at the extensive system in a private practice. In order for the private practice to run efficiently, the system has to work correctly. It taught me the importance of organization with medical records and for the physician to efficiently make a diagnosis concerning a patient. I learned this first hand, due to a backup of medical records and as a result, the physician not able to diagnose a patient in a time efficient manner.
